Episode 39 – The Nii Lamptey Show

This week: Fresh from the most exciting game of all time, two of the Niis are delighted with the players and manager’s response to a difficult situation. The other is upset he’s having to miss such exciting games, but is still keen on his team scoring five.

Contains an unusual amount of positivity given the predicament we find ourselves.

Neil also has to use the rickety microphone. Apols for that.

  1. Hi guys, great podcast again. I’m glad I’m not the only one who has picked up on Callum “obviously, hopefully” Wilson’s verbal tick. Though its common for people of his generation to have this kind of “essentially, genuinely” vocabulary. I guess its the hipsters way of saying “you know”, which is the generic footballers verbal tick.

    Obviously, if he keeps playing like he is though, hopefully we can stay up. I genuinely believe he can be a potent force in this division, and essentially that’s the most important thing. 😉

    On a serious note, my only suggestion to fellow city supporters is to remember the opening line of our song… “Lets all sing together”, its a rallying cry for all fans to stand as one and support the team. Everyone has their own opinions on the owners and if you choose to protest and express your views vocally that’s creditworthy, and those who choose to remain silent have accepted that. The majority of those in silence (including me) would agree with the messages in the protests, however I just hope that those protesting can understand that some people would rather leave the off field problems to one side and continue to support our team and enjoy their hobby/past time of watching Coventry City FC.

    Although the team is not in our city, it still carries the name and is still representing our city. When we come out the other side of this mess, we want to be proud that we stuck together and got through the difficult times with fan power. Lets not give the media or those on the outside looking in, the opportunity to use the so called “sent to Coventry” phrase against us. Stick together, don’t bully fellow supporters because they chose to go to Sixfields and support the team, lets not turn on each other. If that happens, we will face a “Lord of the Flies” scenario and we’ll destroy our club before the current owners even get the chance to finish the job.

    Other points for discussion in Episode 40;

    1) How about ACL inviting Coventry Sphinx to use the Ricoh? Its probably unfeasible as Sphinx may not be able to afford the match day costs involved, but if Coventry City are not at the Ricoh, and fans have said they want a Coventry team to play at the Ricoh (either CCFC or a phoenix team), lets remember there is already another team to support in Coventry.

    2) How much of a look-a-like is Carl Baker to Chris Cattlin in his City playing days…

    1. Brilliant! Glad you’re enjoying the show Tom, and I can see where you’re coming from with the Carl Baker/Chris Cattlin link… well sort of. They share a wonkyness!

Enjoy that? Let us know
